Issue 2: July 2021
The eZu newsletter connects with our CrewMachine crowd. The CrewMachine network includes thousands of people around the globe, working in 12 languages. Every issue will be part education and hopefully a whole lot of fun!
What is eZu
eZu is your crowd connection, a resource for all CrewMachine freelancers. It will include a monthly newsletter filled with tips, articles, freelancer testimonials and fun. Future plans for eZu include a blog where you will be able to read articles related to content creation, page review, research and more. It will also include CrewMachine tips, work from home tips, and eventually, short quizzes.
In this issue, we talk about fluff (in writing not pillow stuffing), explain how to access the open queue, talk a little about localization, explain the ROCS process and a whole lot more. Have an idea for eZu or the newsletter? Tell us what you think.

Education
- Have you ever had feedback or returns saying your work is too fluffy? Wondering what that exactly means? Check out our article on fluff and find out more about what it is and how to avoid it.
- CrewMachine Tip – As soon as new reviewers, researchers, writers, editors etc pass their live trial they are given access to the open projects queue. Check out this CrewMachine tip on how to access the open queue and pull your own work.
Process of the Month
- Localization. Many of our clients sell in multiple countries and want to be able to localize the language to every country. CrewMachine has taken this a step further by identifying the commercial language used to shop in different locations. We developed a process that reviews competitive sites in every country to understand what words are most frequently used.
Take “yard sign” as an example, a common term in the US. CrewMachine’s new research process was able to identify that while “yard sign” made sense in Canada, in Australia and New Zealand they use “lawn sign” and in the UK we should be using “garden sign”. This data-driven approach combines both traditional keyword research with competitive insights to identify opportunities to tune the presentation to the country.
- Measuring Success from an SEO/Client POV. If you search on “return on content spend” you’ll hopefully see that eZdia ranks number one for this phrase. Learn how eZdia uses ROCS to optimize our clients’ content strategy.
- From the CrewMachine POV. There are a few things you should do in order to be successful as a CrewMachine freelancer. Every item we work on, regardless of the type of work, has a workflow that involves multiple roles. So, in order to be successful it’s important to turn in your work on time so that items move through the roles at a reasonable pace. Remember, every role after you is technically your client, and client satisfaction is important.
